This week, we’re running The Fix: our one-week reset program. As we all begin to reenter life, you may want to reboot your diet to give it a jumpstart. Over one week, Fix participants do an accelerated diet consisting of no booze, no added sugar, and no grains. For those of you craving a fresh beginning, here’s your first taste of The Fix.

In addition to cutting out these foods, The Fix involves cutting out self-criticism and negativity. Resetting yourself is about more than just restriction.

Here’s a Taste of The Fix

Our day one tip is “Celebrate.” From James Clear to BJ Fogg to Gretchen Rubin to Charles Duhigg, many researchers have found that it’s not 21 days that make a habit stick or even 6 weeks. It’s not really about the time frame at all. What really makes a habit or a food plan stick are the emotions involved.

We encourage Fix participants to celebrate when they make good choices. This can be as simple as a fist bump, a little dance, or a mantra to remind yourself of the good work you’re doing. Try out a few things and you’ll be surprised! We all like praise, but it doesn’t have to come from the outside. In fact, we shouldn’t depend on it to come from anyone but ourselves!

Our next tip is “Fork it Over.” So much of our eating is emotional. That’s why a plan that only consists of a list of foods is useless. It’s incomplete! The counter to emotional eating is mindful eating — just as the antidote for spiraling thoughts is mindfulness or meditation. There are many ways to approach mindful eating: screen-free meals, chewing each bite 20 times, and putting utensils down between bites are all good tips, but they’re all much more difficult than they sound!

It’s important to give yourself lots of healthy snack options and it’s important that they are full of flavor and nutrition to make it through a reset period. We recommend our ghost pepper pumpkin seeds. Pumpkin seeds are an excellent source of zinc, which is important for hormone balance in both men and women. For men, zinc is required for testosterone production, which is why it’s often mentioned in erectile dysfunction protocols. It’s also important for the health of your prostate. For women, zinc can help regulate periods and it’s also useful for anyone with PCOS, acne, or perimenopausal symptoms. We’re in love with these ghost pepper pumpkin seeds. Fill your Foodtrainers nutcase.

We also have a new greens powder, Vitality Greens, which contains chlorella, spirulina, dandelion, turmeric, and so much more. To quote the company, “This highly-cleansing mix can jumpstart your overall digestion! It contains a mega load of ingredients known for their ability to help eliminate heavy metal and environmental toxicity accumulation.” We also have a delicious stash smoothie recipe to go with it:

Stash Smoothie 2.0

  • 4-6oz unsweetened nut milk (not oat milk) — we love Milkadamia unsweetened
  • 1 tsp (work your way up to more) Vitality Greens*
  • 1 envelope collagen peptides*
  • 1 small, greenish banana (see info above on resistant starch)
  • 1 tbsp pistachio butter (or almond butter if you cannot locate)
  • 1 tsp MCT oil*
  • ½ cap vanilla extract
  • 5-10 drops Nustevia*
  • Handful of ice

*= available for purchase at https://foodtrainers.com/shop/

What to do:

  1.     Add nut milk, followed by other ingredients to a high-powered blender. Blend until combined.
  2.     Pour into a glass or mason jar and know you’re starting your day on a healthy note. Cheers!

We hope we’ve motivated you. Whether you reset on your own or with us, experiment with the tips for celebrating your behaviors, practicing mindful eating, or whatever resonated with you.
