Our Memorial Day Must Haves
Ah, summer has arrived and we are so ready for our upstate, Vermont, and out east escapes. Now that our Foodtrainers’ Pre-Summer Squeeze weeks are winding down, we thought we would let you in on a few Squeezy secrets that will help you all summer long. Here are the items we wouldn’t hop in the car, Jitney, train or plane without.
Watermelon Natural Calm
Calling all (prior) watermelon Jolly Rancher lovers. This flavor is not only tolerable, it’s downright delicious. Natural Calm magnesium powder helps you de-stress, gets things moving and helps your metabolism. Make this your nighttime healthy ritual. PS: They say it’s a limited edition flavor, so get your hands on a canister now.
Laird Superfood Turmeric Creamer
Remember that nasty powder creamer at 7-11? We KNOW you’re not using it anymore, but we have a #tbt for your tastebuds. Laird Superfood Turmeric Creamer is dairy-free, gluten-free, vegan, soy-free, non-GMO and absolutely delicious. Add it to your coffee, matcha, smoothies, eggs… Add it to anything (see our Dragon Slayer recipe below). The turmeric boosts your mood and decreases fat storage and the coconut helps you burn fat. And, the maker of this wonder powder is the cute surfer Laird Hamilton (doesn’t hurt).
Sunbiotic Pumpkin Seeds
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, seeds are the new nuts! Seeds are loaded with minerals like magnesium (helps your metabolism) and selenium (hello beautiful skin). Think you’re not a seed person? You haven’t tried Lemon Teriyaki or Cheesy Chipotle yet. Bonus points: These Sunbiotic pumpkin seeds have probiotics added, which help with cravings and digestion.<
The Squeeze: Dragon Slayer Smoothie
Here is one of our most popular (and beautiful) recipes from our Foodtrainers’ Pre-Summer Squeeze program. Start your day by slaying some dragons with this beautiful, dragon fruit smoothie.
What you need:
- 1 pack pitaya aka dragon fruit – (in the frozen section of markets, or on Fresh Direct or FoodKick)
- ½ banana or ½ mango
- 1 scoop collagen – unflavored (or plant-based protein)
- 4-6oz coconut milk (we like Aroy brand, any unsweetened coconut milk will do)
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp Laird turmeric creamer
- ¼ c ice
What to do: Add ingredients to blender & blend. Serve it up, top with coconut or other garnish, and enjoy!
