Another weekend, another RWA! Here’s what we’ve been up to heading into the holidays.

Cooked/ate:

Lauren: trying to decorate matcha, even though Carolyn initially made fun of me (and then wanted to get a Foodtrainers’ stencil)

Carolyn: A fridge-tata, using all the veggies in my fridge (red onion, garlic, tomatoes, swiss chard), plus tons of pesto. Came out incredible if I do say so myself — no need for frittata-modesty here.

PS We are asked all the time, “do you always eat perfectly?” The answer is… fuck no! We are huge fans of wellness, and also of pizza. Read Lauren’s post on pizza-ing (and visit my brother’s slice shop in Greenpoint if you’re local, it was just featured in NY Times best pizzas).

Read:

Lauren: The Leavers– timely book that centers around immigration but also sorting out who you are, relationships with parents, all that good stuff.  I also read this horrifying quote from our president’s climate advisor (at talks in Poland) “We strongly believe that no country should have to sacrifice their economic prosperity or energy security in pursuit of environmental sustainability.” I hope they’re prospering and secure, when our planet is no longer here. This is terrifying to me and something I care a lot about.

Carolyn: I actually spent Saturday night in Barnes & Noble, who knew that was a hot spot! I picked up a few books to jump into over Christmas, starting with Nine Perfect Strangers (love me some Big Little Lies, by the same author).

Watched:

Lauren: I had heard about this show and was repulsed BUT I love a medical show and Dr Pimple Popper is weirdly addicting. It’s on TLC, if you’re squamish, skip it. My kids made fun of me and then sat and watched (so we’re all weird).

Carolyn: Marvelous Mrs. Maisel kept me company on Sunday, I’m not much of a tv/series person but I LOVE this show, also because this second season is all about the Catskills, my fave summer spot.

What are you reading, cooking and watching heading into the holidays? We expect lots of all three next week…
